Nina Craft Project Club: Dragonfly Candle

This candle turned out better than I thought it would I think it looks great! I hope you agree....

How to make:
  • Cut a piece of white tissue paper to fit around a white pillar candle, using Tuxedo Black stamp the dragonfly on an angle in the centre with the round swirl at one side and the heart swirl to the other side.
  • Colour in using pencil crayons.
  • Wrap around the candle and very gently heat until the tissue paper is attach to the candle. I used my heat gun and wrapped the candle in baking paper as to not over heat you want to heat the candle enough for the candle to melt to attach to the tissue paper but not enough to melt into a waxy mess.
  • Attach a piece of ribbon around the top and bottom.
  • Stamp twelve end flowers from the long border stamp using tuxedo black, colour in and cut, attach two groups of three to the top and bottom ribbons, add small black gems to the dragonfly’s body and to the ends of the swirls with the hearts.

Nina Crafts Project Club: More flowers

Well after I made the first flower card I just couldn't get how much the other dragonfly wings looked like Tulip petals! So here it is......

How to make:
  • Stamp the dragonfly once and the wings only three times onto cream card in Rich Cocoa
  • Colour the dragonfly in cream and tan, and the three wings in cream and yellow, cut out the dragonfly leaving a narrow border of cream around the body part only.
  • From the wings cut out two lower wings and one of the top ones for each Tulip.
  • Cut a piece of gold pearl paper 1cm small than an A5 cream card centrally attach to the card.
  • Cut a piece of cream card 1cm smaller than the gold paper and distress around the edges in Tea Dye.
  • Cut a10.5cm x 15cm piece of cream card and distress in Peeled Paint, centrally attach to the piece of cream card, attach three pieces of green ribbon to the bottom of the card for the stems of the tulips and centrally attach over the gold paper.
  • Shape all the wings and 3D glue the round wings over the top of the ribbons with a pointed one to each side to make a Tulip, attach the dragonfly over the tallest tulip.

Nina Crafts Project Club: When is a dragonfly not a dragonfly?

When it's a flower of course!!!

When I saw the wings of the dragonfly all I could see was beautiful petals.....

How to make:
  • Onto a white 7 inch square card stamp the long border in the middle across the bottom and down the right hand side of the card in Tuxedo Black, very lightly distress over the card with Tumbled Glass ( I used a brush).
  • Onto a piece of turquoise card in Tuxedo Black stamp the top pair of the dragonfly’s wings six times and the lower ones once, also stamp one of the end flowers from the border stamp, colour in the flower and teardrop shape on the wings in a toning colour, cut out and shape the pieces.
  • Glue a piece of black cord 4cm up from the bottom right corner to 9cm off the top left corner.
  • Working in layers start by using three wings at the top of the cord keeping the bottom ends close together working lower down the stem each time.
  • Attach the flower to hide the ends.
